 It is made by burning bauxite or other material that with high AL2O3 content. Its refractories are usually above 1770°C. Enjoying excellent thermal shock resistant and slag resistance, it is used for building electric furnace in steel industry, glass melting furnace, and cement rotary furnace.
 
Applications:
Modern large, medium-sized blast furnace requires 10 years (or 15 years) service lifefor a furnace generation, which translates into strict requirements on types and quality of refractories. Refractory varies from locations inside blast furnace due to huge temperature fluctuations and different reaction conditions in different locations with thermal shock to suffer, Different parts of the blast furnace: high alumina, modified high alumina bricks for furnace stack, bosh, belly, bottom, hearth, and cooling wall are shown below:
